Privacy Policy

Overview
Converge ("we," "us," or "our") provides a service that converts PDF bank statements into structured CSV data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through our identity provider. We do not store passwords directly.
Uploaded Documents
When you upload PDF bank statements, we temporarily process the document in memory to extract transaction data. We store the extracted transaction data (dates, descriptions, and amounts) associated with your account so you can access it later.
Usage and Analytics Data
We use PostHog to collect product analytics data, including pages visited, features used, and general usage patterns. This helps us understand how the Service is used and where to focus improvements. PostHog may set cookies or use local storage to distinguish unique users and sessions.
Error and Performance Data
We use Sentry to collect error reports and performance data when something goes wrong. This may include browser type, operating system, and stack traces. Sentry data is used solely for diagnosing and fixing bugs. We configure Sentry to exclude personally identifiable information such as transaction descriptions or account numbers from error reports.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the statement conversion service you requested
- To store your extracted transaction data for later access and export
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account
- To improve the accuracy and reliability of our extraction service
- To understand usage patterns and prioritize product improvements (PostHog)
- To diagnose errors and monitor application performance (Sentry)
- To send transactional emails such as account confirmations and notifications (Resend)
- To detect and prevent abuse of our service
Data Security
We take the security of your financial data seriously. Our security practices include:
- PDF files are processed entirely in memory and never written to disk
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Authentication is handled through a trusted identity provider
- Row-level security ensures you can only access your own data
- We never log raw PDF contents, transaction descriptions, or account numbers
Data Retention
Uploaded PDF files are processed in memory and discarded immediately after extraction. We do not retain copies of your original PDF statements. Extracted transaction data is stored in your account until you delete it or close your account.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Converge:
- Authentication provider — to manage user accounts and sign-in
- Cloud database — to store your extracted transaction data
- Hosting provider — to serve the application and process requests
- PostHog — product analytics to understand usage patterns and improve the Service

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only process it as necessary to provide their services. Analytics and error data is retained according to each provider's data retention policies.
Cookies and Tracking
Converge uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, theme preferences, and analytics. Specifically:
- Essential cookies — required for authentication and session management
- Preference cookies — to remember your settings such as light/dark theme
- Analytics cookies — set by PostHog to understand usage patterns; these do not track you across other websites
You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some functionality.

- Export your data at any time in CSV format
- Delete individual statements or your entire account
